Put Jomi’s “Rewind” on Replay

What can I say? This song is straight up addicting. It’s been a few weeks since its release and I’m still not sick of it. I must say my boy Jomes (as I’ve taken to calling him now) really went above and beyond in this solo release. He’s not only proven that he’s super talented and sexy, but that he looks amazing in any style of clothing…even the weird Jedi-ish hoodie featured throughout the MV. Seriously, whose idea was that?

As far as the music is concerned, I prefer the Chinese version over the Korean. I don’t know why, but the language sounds more smooth with this style of song. That said, I gotta give props to TAO because his rap is one of the best I’ve heard and he also looks pretty hot in this video. I just ignore the word “WHITE” slapped across his crotch because I’m sure there’s some sort of weird innuendo going on there.

Now that my little love fest is out of the way, here’s what I didn’t like about the MV…what’s with the hideous and annoying girlfriend character? Everything about her is just awful! Her cheap Carrie Bradshaw rip-off ensemble, her greasy hair, and her spastic freakout. Was this random act of rage brought on by Jomi’s leather pants, open sweater combination?

I’m sorry, girl. I can’t help being overly fabulous!

I agree, it’s a little shocking to find a man lounging in such an irresponsible outfit, but I’m simply confused by the girl. And it’s not like I haven’t seen ugly, annoying girls in Kpop MVs before, but this one just takes it too far. I don’t get why any guy would want to rewind any situations with this chick.

Despite the miscast of the girlfriend,  I’ll replay this video until it breaks Youtube altogether. If you’ve somehow managed to play out the MV and you want to see some candid Jomi, watch this live performance and his reaction from winning 1st place on “The Show”.

It’s Halloween…SHINee Style!

So what do I love more than SHINee, you ask?? NOTHING. But following in a very close second is Halloween! K-Pop Fashion Challenge: Let’s Play!

Think of one of your favorite MVs. Can you picture clearly what your bias is wearing? Or have you ever wanted to dress up your idol like a paper doll? Yeah, me too! With that in mind, I’ve created some memorable ensembles from your favorite artists to put you to the ultimate K-Pop fashion test.

Can you name the artist and the MV that goes with each outfit? I’ve added little hints to help you, but I doubt you’ll need it. I think they’re pretty easy!
And remember, these aren’t exact replicas of what they wore, but they do capture the spirit of each artist in their respective MVs.

Also, some of these artists are soloists and others are from groups so don’t be afraid to think outside the box! The answers will be revealed in my next post with the corresponding videos for each outfit so make sure to write down your answers.

It’s Raining Taemin – (Danger) MV + (Ace/Danger) Live

It’s been a non-stop Taemin-athon in my house lately, which is probably a surprise to no one. Why, you ask? The full version of his new m/v Danger released yesterday!!!

My first impression? Well, first of all, Taemin needs to eat more. He is looking soooo thin with the release of this new album and it makes his face very gaunt. No es bueno! I just want to fry up a bunch of kimchi fried rice for him with extra spam and cheese on top and make him wash it all down with a bucket of banana milk!

Anyways, my second thought about this video is the creepy nose ring thingy has got to go! Yet another thing getting in the way of Taemin’s natural cuteness. So, SMTOWN, please feed this boy and stop putting weird jewelry/torture devices on his face. I mean, seriously, how can you do that to Taemin? Not cool!

Other than that, I really enjoyed this video. The fashion is pretty great, especially the sparkly jacket. The choreography is FANTASTIC and of course the song is very catchy in an old school MJ-esque way, which I really love.

Oh yeah, the live performance of Ace and Danger also released yesterday so I’ve been watching that too. Add some more Taemin to your day! Taemin for everyone!! It’s raining Taemin! And YOU get a Taemin, and YOU get a Taemin! Can you tell I’m excited about this? Okay, I’m done.

Best K-Pop iPhone Wallpapers

There comes a time along the never ending road of K-Pop obsession when a fan forks up big bucks for a fancy smartphone case. But what about the totally free decoration for the other side of your phone? Yep, I’m talkin’ ’bout wallpaper, y’all!

After hours of obsessive research, here are my favorite K-Pop smartphone wallpapers (in no particular order). FYI I have an iPhone 5 and each one fits my screen perfectly. Some would definitely shine on a white iPhone, while others go well with classic black or an iPhone 5c.

An Offering for Onew

It’s out with the nodes and in the with the Onew! To help our beloved Onew feel better and aid his recovery from vocal chord surgery, here is the “Get Well” meal I would prepare for him if I were lucky enough to cook for him in real life. Get Ur Cry On: Saddest K-Pop MVs

When it comes to K-Pop music videos I’m sure we’ve all seen our fair share of the good, the bad, the smouldering, the hilarious, and even the WTF?? But let’s face it sometimes you just need a good, old fashioned crying session! Luckily with all the über-romantic MVs out there it’s not hard to find something to cry about. So, after much research (and tears!) I’ve narrowed down my 5 favorite cry-a-thon songs to save for one of those days when you need to shed some water weight…from your eyeballs.

5. G-Dragon “That XX”
GD smash! Even when he’s sad or mad, he’s still hot, but in this MV G-Dragon also shows he’s a great actor. Full of raw emotion and of course, stunning fashion sense this video is as visually moving as it is melancholy with a touch of sexy GD masculinity. You may get slightly misty from this one, but it’s not a total heart breaker. Full speed ahead!

4. Akdong Musician (AKMU) “200%”
Stalk much? What starts off as an adorable little friends becoming lovers story ends as a perfectly painful situation of unrequited love. The cute awkwardness and upbeat melody balances out the sadness to keep you from totally going off the deep end and straight into the pint of ice cream.

3. NU’EST “Hello”
We’re sad…let’s dance! This song by itself is enough to tug at your heartstrings, but the intense emotion and bleak colors really make you feel it. The only thing that can pull you back from tears is marveling at how these boys can still dance it out with all the heartache they feel. It’s also kinda distracting how much Ren looks exactly like an elvish princess.

2. Jin “Gone”
Surprised this one didn’t make it to number 1? I mean come on! Blind girl? Heart medication? Sad piano??? Don’t get me wrong, it is definitely the saddest storyline in the whole lineup, but it’s almost too sad for me to take it seriously. If it were a more realistic story I would probably feel differently. It’s also way too sad to watch very often. Proceed with caution!

1. BOA “Disturbance”
Go back to the past, duh! So here you have it – my ultimate favorite cry-a-thon MV. Is it because of my soft spot for Taemin? Probably, but you can’t deny this video is extremely well done! From the flawless cinematography to the believable chemistry between the characters, it’s the perfect bittersweet, romantic mini flick.
